Quiche Food Recipes – A Brief Article On The Famous Quiche Food Recipes
Quiche is widely considered a French dish but it actually originated in Germany. The word “quiche” comes from the German word for cake, “Kuchen.”. Quiche has now spread to other countries and is a well liked dish the world over.
After the 2nd world war, the dish got popular in UK, and in the US in the 1950′s. Initially it was mostly a vegetarian meal. Improvisations to the recipe now feature a range of ingredients including meat such as bacon, ham, or shellfish.
INGREDIENTS One round pie crust thats not sweetened 2 cups of broccoli florets One onion which is peeled and chopped One tablespoon of olive oil 1 cup of frayed cheese 4 eggs 1 1/2 cups of whipping cream A pinch of powdered nutmeg Pepper and salt
DIRECTIONS Commence by making the crust for the purpose of blind cooking. Be sure to fit this crust to a tart pan of 10 inches and then perforate through this with fork tines at about 15 places. Then put the pan in a freezer for about fifteen minutes whilst you preheat the oven to a temperature of 400F.(When you lay the crust in a freezer, it prevents it from bubbling or slipping while baking)
Subsequently you may take the crust and put it straight in to your hot oven cooking it for about 12 minutes till the time it gets a nice golden color. Take this away from the oven and let it cool for around ten minutes. You can later switch your oven downward to about 375F.
Later the broccoli can be steamed for three minutes inside a microwave. Make certain it is just about a little tender. Keep a watch and see that it is not over steamed as you might lose the flavor of the vegetable.
Preheat the olive oil on a non-stick small skillet at a average flame. Then add the onion diced to cook, stir it intermittently to ensure the onion is tender enough and it could take about five min or so.
Spread the onions and the steamed broccoli evenly on to the lower part of the cooled crust. Drop a little cheese on the top. Take another bowl, whisk the whipped cream, eggs, nutmeg and the pinch of pepper and salt together until it is blended well. Place this combination on top of the cheese and vegetables. Put the pan in to the oven and bake it until it is done for about 40 minutes. Your dish is set to serve up.
