Young children, such as toddlers, are notorious for being full of energy – just ask any parent and they’ll confirm this widely-known fact. While many people know this about toddlers, they don’t realize that they NEED this energy to grow and develop properly. Things like cheese, fruit salad and low-fat frozen yogurt covered with fresh fruit also make great snacks. Generally, the shorter the list, the healthier the snack is.
While fruits and veggies are the most common type of healthy snacks used by parents, please do not feel limited to just these. Homemade breads, cookies and brownies can all be made healthier when you substitute white flour with whole wheat flour. And, there are even cookbooks out there with recipes detailing how to sneak vegetables in these snacks! So, have fun at snack time and bake away if you wish!
