Chinese Food – A Concise Article On The Amazing Cuisine
China stands out as the fastest evolving country in Asia and with its gigantic population, size and diverse culture it also possesses a wide range of cuisines that’s well liked all over the world.. Chinese cuisines are well-liked all over the world, none more famous than Cantonese and Szechuan that are well liked in the west. Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shangdong, Anhui and Fujian are some of the other popular Chinese cuisines. Nowadays you may find Chinese cuisines which have been blended with subtle and not so subtle touches from other parts of the world, Chinese immigrants in other countries have a very big part in this influence .
There is a huge range of popular Chinese dishes, so it will be futile to try and catalogue all of them here. However, we can jot down some of the more favored Chinese dishes:
* Congee – A type of porridge. Congee is usually made using rice, but other cereals such as barley, cornmeal, millet or sorghum are sometimes used instead.
* Dumplings – Chinese dumplings is usually fried (“guotie”), steamed (“jiaozi”) or boiled (“shuijiao”), and usually contain ground meat or vegetables.
General Tso’s Chicken: Strictly speaking this isn’t a pure Chinese dish. This is more the Americanized version of a Chinese dish which is deep fried and served with spicy and sweet sauce. This recipe is gaining in popularity in the west but isn’t that common in China.
* Kung Po Chicken – A highly spiced chicken dish containing Sichuan peppercorns, Shaoxing wine, and nuts (peanuts or cashew nuts are used). In the West, the dish is often adapted with some of the traditional ingredients – for instance, bell peppers can be used for flavoring.
Peking Duck: Its basically roasted duck that is doused in syrup and then served with plum sauce, pancakes and scallions.
* Soy Egg – A hard-boiled egg, with soy sauce, sugar, herbs, spices and water.
Xiaolongbao – This is an extended variety of sandwich and is basically steamed bun containing seafood, vegetables and meat soup. The meat soup is not prepared before hand, infact meat gelatin is sandwiched inside an opening in the bun and allowed to cook and form into soup.
This is a unique dish. Its packaged bamboo leaves containing glutinous rice and some vegetable or meat filling.
