An Espresso Machine was on my mind for quite a long time and my list contained two important features. The features were; simple to use and it must fit within my budget. While keeping both of these features in mind, I shopped around and was pleased to find the Breville BES820XL Espresso Machine. When compiling my list of needs in an espresso machine, this espresso machine completed the list and it can be purchased for about $489.00, which fit in my budget. This espresso machine gave me the choice between well thought-out programming or manual operation. The built-in programming software operates to extract the correct amount of coffee with a push of one button. Even a greenhorn like me can do it.

This espresso machine has a Thermoblock heating system that delivers three bursts of hot water into the filter head. This creates an increase in pressure that expands the coffee grounds or espresso pods so that air pockets are eliminated and the unit extracts more crema to make a coffee that is smooth-tasting and rich. There is a pressure gauge on the front that points to above or below Optimum Zone or under-extracted espresso. When it is positioned in the recommended Optimum Zone while pouring, the espresso will be produced at optimum pressure so that there is a generous layer of golden crema.

The temperature of the water is increased by the espresso machine to produce steam for frothing milk by providing a swivel-action steam. The water is returned to proper level for brewing by the Auto-Purge function once the frothing has been completed. If you don’t use the espresso machine for an hour, the Power Save mode kicks in, and the machine is completely shut off if not used for 3 hours. If you leave the espresso machine on when you leave home, you won’t have to worry about shutting it off. The machine shuts it off if you forget.

This affordable espresso machine, with great ease of use, is a quality espresso machine that has exceeded my expectations. A perfect cup of coffee is easy to produce, no matter what you decide to make. The User Manual contains recipes and I have discovered many coffee drinks that have been extremely enjoyable and have become favorites. This espresso machine is a great choice if you want a machine to make an espresso every morning or only on those cold, chilly mornings.

I have had this machine for about 4 weeks and love it. It’s easy to use, is made of high quality parts, and looks beautiful on the counter. Once you find the right grind consistency, the results are delicious and consistent. The steamer wand works extremely well and is easy to maneuver with the 360 degree swivel arm.
